Our Story
Kurt and Tracy Schmidt

Kurt is from Colorado while Tracy is from Washington. Their journey began in 1992 in a small town 60 miles south of Seattle, when they met as friends. They did not know at the time, but their lives would be separated, then bring them back together 22 years later. They refound each other and married in 2017 joining a blended family of four kids and a special needs sibling. Their family quickly grew and today, they are grandparents to four small grandchildren. With a dream of owning acreage, they moved to Montana in 2023 to start a cattle ranch and create a sustainable farm. With one of the four kids relocating to the farm and the sibling, the four of them are learning how to build and grow a cattle ranch.
They have opened their home to Airbnb. They welcome you to experience the farm life and stay with them in their large cabin style lodge.
Currently, they have a small herd of cattle, turkeys, chickens, and cattle dogs. In the near future, they plan to bring in more animals and expand their cattle herd. Stay tuned for many more exciting business ventures and additions to the Big Rig Ranch.
